Plugs and Tunnels

The size indicated for plugs and tunnels represents the diameter at which the item sits in the ear (the size of your piercing hole).

For 'double-flared' plugs or tunnels, note that the actual end diameter of the item is larger than the diameter at which it sits in the ear. Typically, the flared part of the plug is 1mm to 1.5mm larger. The flare is essential for keeping the plug securely in place.

How to choose your ear gauge size

Gauge sizing can be confusing because smaller gauge numbers represent larger openings. Use the millimeter measurement when comparing plugs, tunnels, and other jewelry for stretched ears.

Common size conversions

  • 0g = 8mm
  • 00g = 10mm
  • 1/2 inch = 12mm
  • 9/16 inch = 14mm
  • 5/8 inch = 16mm
